Where To Buy Wii Remote
Before deciding where to buy a Wii Remote, perhaps we should explain what it does and why you might need one.
The Wii Remote has been designed for lefties and rightis, so it is equally comfortable in right and left hands. It also has just the right number of buttons for gaming - not so many that new players will get confused with the choices available, but enough so that Wii games have maximum 'playability'.
But is you already have a Wii, which comes with it's own controller, why would you need another?
Well, a lot of Wii games can be played with up to four people simultaneously. I speak from experience when I say that once you see your child playing, you will want a go yourself. Wii playing is hugely sociable, but highly addictive, and having an extra remote adds to the fun immensely.
The face of the Wii remote is really quite straight forward.
On the front of the Wii remote are the "plus" (+) pad, a large "A" button which is used for major on-screen actions, and two small options buttons.
Between the game buttons are a + and - buttons, which usually act as forwards and back during game play.
There is also a "Home" button to engage the Wii home screen to change settings or check remote battery levels.
On the back side of the Wii controller is a trigger-like "B" button, perfect for timing releases of a bowling roll in Wii Sports.
Thankfully, battery life is excellent with the two included AA batteries. You ca also get rechargeable batteries as well, which help cut the cost of batteries..
Along the bottom of the Wii Remote, four blue LED lights indicate which player position the remote is currently set to.
The controller automatically connects to the Wii console via state of the art Blue tooth wireless technology.
Below the LEDs, an expansion port lets you connect a number of devices including the Nunchuck and Classic controllers for Virtual Console gaming (Virtual Console games and controller accessories are sold separately).
Other features of the Wii Remote include adjustable rumble force-feedback and a reinforced wrist strap to ensure safe use of the controller. Believe me when I tell you that some game play can get pretty excitable.
One feature that really helps create the unique Wii environment is the remote speaker. A speaker inside the remote gives the player feedback about the strength of swings or the accuracy of their moves- such as realistic tennis noises as the "racket" connects with the ball in Wii Sports.
The physical design of the remote is tough and of very high quality.
Please Note: In my experience, even accessories such as the Wii controller will sell out quickly over the holidays. If you think you might need one for Xmas, buy one Today!
